Other Ways to Give

The Alaska Wilderness League is able lead the fight for protecting Alaska’s most vital lands through the generosity of our members and donors. As you are making your donation to keep these lands forever protected, please remember these “outside the box” options for giving!

Give the Gift of a League Membership

It’s the gift that will keep on giving all year long! During this time of year people crowd the department stores looking for material things that may end up being returned after the holidays. Some gifts get re-wrapped and re-gifted and some just get thrown away. What a waste. For this holiday season why not consider a gift of membership to Alaska Wilderness League? A year-long membership to a person who appreciates pristine wilderness (or who just loves the polar bear) would not only make them part of a powerful movement to protect America’s last great wilderness but it would entitle that person to unlimited resources the League provides all it’s members.

Our members are made up of activists as well as donors so we offer benefits that can satisfy all who join us. Member benefits include a free subscription to our quarterly North Star News, which is a wonderful resource for keeping you abreast of legislative actions happening in the state of Alaska and on Capital Hill, fun activities that the League is involved with all over the country and notes from our Executive Director, Cindy Shogan, which always give our members the heads up on what’s going on with the League. Other member benefits include special invitations to local events and fundraisers and action items like our house party kits that you can do from home.

Giving a GIFT of membership is really easy and can be done by going to the Join Us page of our website. All you will need to do is include the name, address, phone number and e-mail address of the person who you are giving the membership to in the comments box of the form. It’s just that easy! So stop web surfing for something material and sign up to give a GIFT membership that will last all year!

Plus, if you give a gift membership this holiday season, we’ll send a set of notecards featuring spectacular wildlife photos from Alaska to you and the recipient of your gift. It’s just that easy… so hold off on the fruitcake purchases this year and give a gift with impact!

Alaska Memories

A Memorial Donation is a fitting way to remember a special person, while at the same time helping protect the Last Great Wilderness, America’s Arctic. Every year we are fortunate to receive many such donations enabling our mission to lead the effort to preserve Alaska’s wilderness by engaging citizens, sharing resources, collaborating with other organizations, educating the public, and providing a courageous, constant and victorious voie for Alaska in the nation’s capital.

Please check out our scrapbook of memories. If you would like to donate on behalf of a friend, family member or loved one please call or email Tara Lewis at 202-544-5205 to find out how to get your story and photo included in our on-line dedications.

Alaska Wild Legacy Society

Anyone with foresight will plan for the future–especially when it comes to retirement funds. People know that Social Security income doesn’t provide enough to care for day-to-day needs. The best gift plans can assist your financial and tax situation today and support the Alaska Wilderness League tomorrow. An added bonus of planned gifts is that they can reduce estate taxes for those who face such taxation. The Alaska Wild Legacy Society honors and recognizes the generosity and vision of those who have chosen to leave a legacy to the nation through estate or deferred gifts to Alaska Wilderness League. Legacy donors receive special recognition in Alaska Wilderness League publications and VIP invitations to annual League activities. The League will also honor requests for donor anonymity. Honorees of the society may choose to designate their gifts to the League at large or to specific League campaigns or programs.

Enrollment in this honorary society is simply a matter of advising the League of the creation of a legacy gift: a bequest in a will or living trust; a charitable gift annuity; a charitable remainder trust; or designation as beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy.

A planned giving specialist at the League is happy to answer any questions you have. For additional information or enrollment in the Alaska Wild Legacy Society, please contact Justin Bricarell at 202-544-5205.
